Celebrating a Legacy: The Annual Spring Ladies Luncheon at Nichols Farms
What began as a simple annual outing to celebrate the Nichols Farms office staff has blossomed into a cherished tradition known as the Spring Ladies Luncheon. Every spring, the ladies from the administrative team at Nichols Farms gather to celebrate each other, soaking in the sunshine and enjoying one another’s company.
In 2014, Susie Nichols, the beloved matriarch of the Nichols Family, saw an opportunity within this gathering to honor the women on the team, acknowledging their daily challenges and sacrifices. Her vision turned a casual get-together into a meaningful celebration of appreciation and camaraderie.
Fast forward to 2024, and the tradition is 10 years strong and lives on through Brittney, Mary-Alice, and Kelsey, fondly referred to as “Susie’s Girls.” This year, the event was elevated by inviting Eden Café to share their culinary delights and inspiring story with the team.
Myriam (Mimi), the visionary behind Eden Café, provided the ladies a glimpse into the mission behind their restaurant and 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Their goal is to bridge the gap between seniors who possess a wealth of knowledge and life experience and the youth who often require extra attention. Bringing the two together can create a tremendous difference in the lives of those involved.
The women enjoyed a stunning spring day on the sprawling lawn of the farmhouse, a perfect setting for the festivities. This year’s luncheon also introduced a new tradition: the “Susie’s Service Award.”
This award, a loving tribute to Susie Nichols, who passed away in early 2023, honors an individual whose leadership, empathy, and unwavering commitment to the company reflect Susie’s inspiring legacy. The inaugural award was presented to Cristina Lane, celebrated for her exemplary qualities that resonate deeply with Susie’s spirit. Cristina’s passion, kindness, and empathy make her truly deserving of this honor, as she consistently goes above and beyond to foster a positive work culture.
In addition to the Service Award, another heartfelt accolade was bestowed: the “Susie’s Legacy Award.” This honor went to Janet Gordon, recognized for her kindness and generosity. Janet’s love manifests through her cooking and baking; she has prepared countless batches of spaghetti for harvest meals and sweet treats for annual celebrations. She dedicates weekends and long hours to ensure everyone is well cared for.
Nichols Farms continues to uphold its commitment to its employees and their families, demonstrating support and appreciation daily. The Spring Ladies Luncheon is more than an event—it’s a testament to the enduring legacy of Susie Nichols and the vibrant, supportive community she fostered at Nichols Farms.
