At Nichols Farms, community and connection have always been at the heart of what we do. That spirit came to life in a new way in July 2014 when we hosted our very first Nichols Farms Family Picnic. The event was inspired by a vision from Susie Nichols, who dreamed of creating a meaningful experience where employees could relax, connect, and celebrate alongside their families. That vision became a reality at the International Agri-Center in Tulare, California, marking the beginning of a cherished tradition.

It was an unforgettable day. Families gathered under the summer sun to enjoy classic picnic games, volleyball matches, arts and crafts, and plenty of laughter. The highlight for many was the live music performed by a local band, featuring none other than our very own Fabian Lemus. At the time, Fabian was part of our operations team but is now Farm Manager. His talent and energy helped set the tone for what this event would come to represent.

In 2015, we brought the event onsite at Nichols Farms. More than just a change in venue, this shift allowed employees to share a piece of their daily lives with their families and showcasing where they work and what they help build every day.

As our team has expanded, so has our need for space and new experiences. In response, we’ve started rotating the picnic’s location to better accommodate our growing Nichols Farms community and their families. This allows us to introduce fresh activities and continue making the event feel special for everyone who attends.

Today, the Nichols Farms Family Picnic is one of our most beloved traditions. We’ve seen new faces join, families grow, and children return year after year. We are creating lasting memories in the process. While the locations and activities may evolve, the heart of the event remains the same, celebrating the people who make Nichols Farms what it is.

This is a reminder that at Nichols Farms, we don’t just invest in crops, we invest in people. As we look to the future, we’re excited to continue this tradition and find new ways to celebrate the incredible team behind Nichols Farms. Because when we gather, we grow, and there’s nothing more rewarding than growing together.
